Guest room decor is often a greater challenge than decorating your own room or those of your children. Different people have different tastes and you want everyone who stays to feel at home and comfortable in the space that you provide for them. This is not an impossible task. As a matter of fact, you can actually enjoy the process, almost as much as your guests will enjoy your room. Choose a double bed for the comfort of your guests. Full-size beds tend to leave taller people with the dilemma of legroom. A double bed will not occupy much more space than a full one, but it will guarantee the comfort of friends and family. Keep in mind that you will be the majority of your guests. If the purpose is to accommodate your small grandchildren, then by all means, go with two single beds.
Along with the size of the comfortable bed, pick up comfortable bedding. Do not use age, the bed is discarded. Instead, use thick pads and sheets with a high density of threads. Most discount department stores sell sheets with a yarn density as low as 180. Those low numbers are the equivalent of sleeping on sandpaper. If the budget is a problem, opt for the midpoint and choose at least 350. Layer the bedding so that the guests can be covered with as much or as little as they consider comfortable.

Choose a paint color that does not compromise the integrity of your home’s architecture. It is a good idea to also consider the region in which you live when painting your guest room. Southwest areas are known for warm and earthy tones. Houses on the coast can incorporate light and well-ventilated colors and even pastels. If you have a modern home, color contrasts can create a stimulating space for customers, while an old house may require more muted tones and a chair lane.
Equip the room with practical facilities. Put bedside tables or bedside tables on either side of the bed. Place lamps on each one so that if one of your guests wants to read a little late at night they can do it without disturbing their partner. A small television can also be appreciated so your friends do not feel as if they are keeping up too late in the event you want to watch late news or night comedies. Include an alarm clock for those who may need to wake up before others in the home. Make sure they understand that the dresser is not for the looks, but for your personal use. Finally, fill a large wicker basket with the needs of the bathroom such as towels, soaps and feminine hygiene products.
